About Us

Lee Mack Entertainment, LLC is an independent record label founded in 2020 by Devin Davidson, known professionally as DEVIN DENZEL. The label is named in honor of his late great-grandmother, Mattie “Sis” Lee Mack, and his grandmother, Annie Beatrice Mack Thomas—two trailblazing women whose influence helped shape the foundation of D.C.’s go-go movement.

Mattie “Sis” Lee Mack was a descendant of enslaved people who worked as a sharecropper in Georgia before migrating to Southeast Washington, D.C. She became the first Black person to own property on Xenia Street SE, working as an elevator operator at the post office while saving to invest in the musical dreams of her grandsons: Quentin “Footz” Davidson and James “Funk” Thomas. Their talent and her sacrifice helped give rise to Rare Essence, one of the most iconic and influential go-go bands in the DMV.

Annie Mack Thomas, Devin’s grandmother, carried that legacy forward as the band’s manager and a powerful presence behind the scenes. Her deep involvement in Rare Essence’s development—both musically and personally—helped brand the group into a household name. She treated every member like family, leading with loyalty, grit, and unmatched dedication to the culture.

Lee Mack Entertainment exists to carry on their legacy. Founded with a mission to elevate D.C. music and culture to global recognition, the label currently houses DEVIN DENZEL as its first artist. With deep respect for its go-go roots, the label aims to spotlight emerging talent from the DMV who are ready to push the culture forward—authentically, fearlessly, and with purpose.

This isn’t just music. This is heritage, hustle, and homegrown power.
