Lee Mack Entertainment, LLC is a record label founded by Devin Davidson, know professionally as, DEVIN DENZEL. The label is named after his late Great-Grandmother, Mattie Lee Mack Thomas, a descendant of slaves, who labored as a sharecropper in Georgia before moving to DC and becoming the first Black person to own property in her Southeast neighborhood on Xenia St. SE. She worked as an elevator operator at the post office before investing her savings into her grandsons, Quentin ‘Footz’ Davidson and James ‘Funk’ Thomas, musical aspirations. They later went on to create ‘Rare Essence’, one of the DMV’s most iconic musical influences. 

The label also pays homage to Devin’s grandmother Annie Lee Mack Thomas, who was a staple in the Go-Go community as she managed her sons’ band and developed their artistry. She was a trailblazer for the culture that branded Rare Essence into the brand they are today She treated each member like an extensions of her family; with passion and loyalty. 

Both Annie and Mattie ‘Lee Mack’ Thomas were innovators that helped push the culture forward. Devin The Ripper named his label ‘Lee Mack’ with a mission to elevate DC music and culture to worldwide musical prominence.
